Quinn Bracken is a writer and professor living in Kentucky. She has written one novel, The Sugar I Remember, which she is querying to publish traditionally. She also writes short stories, personal essays, and speeches. She writes rich, character-driven stories that demonstrate the complexity of human motivation and emotion. She is intimately familiar with the uncomfortable truth that big changes can fundamentally shift the world around us at any moment, and uses this understanding to write honest stories that readers can sink into.
Quinn is endlessly inquisitive and pushes every effort to make learning dynamic and realistic for everyone. She believes critical thinking and challenging social conventions are fundamental elements of a prosperous society, and that success is measured by standards like joy, safety, and respect.
When she’s not writing, teaching, or podcasting, Quinn rides horses and reads. Her favorite author is Karin Slaughter, and her favorite horse is Holly. She and her husband, Ryan, have been a pair since high school, and together they raise show-line border collies and stray cats.
Lauren Gawthrop is a marketing specialist living and working in Lexington, KY. Before her shift into marketing, she worked a broad range of roles in television broadcasting, from production assistant to news anchor. During her decade in news, she lived in four different states, made some amazing friendships, and learned a lot about herself. It was through self-examination that she realized her career wasn't filling her cup and was, instead, negatively impacting many aspects of her health.
Lauren is extraordinarily generous and altruistic, and spends a great deal of her time volunteering for local organizations that improve her city and the circumstances of the citizens within it. She is dedicated to environmental justice and is resolutely in search of ways to further reduce her environmental footprint.
She spends her free time growing her small rental business, traveling with her husband, seeking out delicious food, and cuddling her dog, Millie.
Ryan Deatherage is a musician, voice actor, and producer from Lexington, Kentucky. He is motivated by the adage “write the music you want to listen to,” and invests his time and effort into creating music that satisfies this drive. He has been developing his skills as a producer since a young age, starting with broadcasting school and working for the regional affiliate of iHeartMedia.
Ryan has been behind a microphone doing voicework since the age of eleven and has experience on the radio, singing in bands, and recording voiceover for commercials, PSAs, and short-form animation. His voice is lower in register and is well-suited for commercials and blockbuster voiceovers.
In his free time, he is a video game collector and plays Dungeons and Dragons. He practices multiple mediums of art, including watercolor and three dimensional art. He also spends time with his wife, their cat and dog, and their goddaughter, Magnolia.
